Mr. Pershing co-founded PYA, a highly trusted advisory firm for the business community, in 1983, and he served as the Firm’s Chief Executive Officer until the end of 2019. Under his leadership, PYA grew from a start-up with three employees to its position today as one of the leading accounting and consulting firms in the United States with offices in Atlanta, Knoxville, Nashville, Kansas City, and Tampa. PYA serves healthcare organizations in all 50 states.

Under Mr. Pershing’s long-time leadership, PYA has achieved national recognition, most recently ranked as the country’s 13th largest Healthcare Consulting Firm by Modern Healthcare, INSIDE Public Accounting 3rd Highest Percentage Female Ownership and an INSIDE Public Accounting Top 100 Firm. PYA also was featured in Accounting Today’s “Inside the Top 100 – In-Depth Looks at Four of the Most Successful Firms in the Country”.

Mr. Pershing graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, and was one of 18 professionals from the U.S. and Great Britain to participate in the first Ernst & Ernst Accelerated Healthcare Program, a one-year full-time education and work-study program in healthcare industry matters. Mr. Pershing is a Certified Professional Accountant (CPA).
