Mackenzie Kitson is a Consultant at Propeller. Mackenzie was previously an Assistant Director at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo from August 2017 to July 2022. In that role, they managed a cross-functional team of 60 members, with 5 direct reports to build community for 4000+ students. Mackenzie also led the full recruiting life cycle for 190 open student staff positions, including interviews for 300+ candidates.

Before their role at Cal Poly, Mackenzie was the Assistant Residence Director at Colorado State University from July 2015 to June 2017. In that role, they provided customer service to parents and supporters as their students transitioned to college within FERPA guidelines, requiring extremely thoughtful verbal and written communication. Mackenzie also implemented a new hiring process in StarRez (Cloud based software) including training. Mackenzie has also helped reconcile and monitor budget spending for assigned team, approximately $1 million.

Mackenzie is skilled in collaborating with stakeholders to determine and assess the KPIs for residents living on campus. Mackenzie also has experience presenting to staff in ongoing training to prepare them for conversations related to diversity, equity and inclusion.

Mackenzie Kitson has a Master's degree in Student Affairs and Higher Education from Colorado State University as well as a BA in Business and Leadership from the University of Puget Sound. Mackenzie also has certification from SHRM in SHRM - Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).
