Diego Pico has extensive work experience in the field of research and development in the food industry. Diego started their career at Pronaca in 2000, where they held various roles, including Director of Innovation and Development for the company's consumer product lines. In this position, they were responsible for strategic planning, project management, and product improvement. Diego also served as a Technical Manager and R&D Manager, leading projects related to processed meat products. Prior to their work at Pronaca, Diego worked as a Plant Supervisor and Research Assistant at the Escuela Politécnica Nacional. Currently, they are a part-time University Professor at both Universidad San Francisco de Quito and Universidad de Las Américas (EC).
Diego Pico has a diverse education history. Diego obtained an MBA in Business Administration, Management, and Operations from IDE Business School between 2011 and 2013. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of Greenwich from 1997 to 1999. Diego's educational background also includes a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Escuela Politécnica Nacional, which they completed from 1990 to 1997. In addition to their formal education, Diego has obtained various certifications, including leadership training from Aden Business School in 2023, change management certification from Korn Ferry in 2018, and corporate ontological coaching certification from Eiconex Internacional in 2015. Diego also holds a certification as a LUMA Institute Certified Practitioner.
