Louis "Dutch" Schotemeyer serves as a partner at Newmeyer Dillion in Newport Beach, focusing on legal counsel for companies without in-house attorneys, particularly in Real Estate, Construction, and Labor & Employment. Dutch is also a founding member of the Orange County Chapter of the Private Directors Association®, aiming to enhance private company value through effective board governance. Previous roles include Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Taylor Morrison, and Vice President and Associate General Counsel at William Lyon Homes, with extensive experience in litigation support, labor and employment, and construction law. Dutch's military career includes serving as Battalion Commander in the United States Marine Corps, where leadership and mentorship were key, as well as various legal roles focused on trial counsel, advice on military law, and civil matters. Dutch holds a J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law and a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Washington State University.
