Mark Wooten has a diverse and extensive work experience in various roles within the sales, marketing, and engineering fields.
Mark started their career as a Staff Engineer at the Ductile Iron Pipe Research Association, where they provided engineering support services and delivered presentations and workshops to utilities across the country. Mark then joined Engineering Service Associates, Inc. as a Project Engineer and was subsequently promoted to Project Manager. In this role, they led projects with values ranging from $50k to $20 million and successfully entered a new market, generating over $1 million in billings.
After that, Wooten worked at Ellis & Associates, Inc. and Hendon Engineering as a Project Manager, leading engineering teams and focusing on process improvement and establishing project deliverables standards.
Wooten's career then took a different direction, and they joined U.S. Pipe & Foundry as the Director of Corporate Marketing. Mark was responsible for establishing the company's first professional Marketing function, developing marketing strategy, strengthening customer relationships, and implementing a New Product Development process. Under their leadership, the company achieved a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for profit margin of 8% and a CAGR for top-line sales of 10%.
Following their success at U.S. Pipe & Foundry, Wooten moved to Griffin Pipe, where they held multiple positions. Initially, they were the Director of Marketing, where they performed market research, provided actionable insights, and led to growth in market share and profits. Mark then took on expanded responsibilities as the Director of Marketing & Commercial Administration, overseeing the Customer Service and Product Engineering groups and developing commercialization plans for new products. Finally, Wooten served as the Director of Product Engineering, leading strategic initiatives in quality and new product development and contributing to a significant increase in sales and EBITDA.
Before their current role, Wooten briefly worked at Eclipse, Inc. as the Director of Product Engineering, focusing on implementing a stage-gate development process and improving collaboration between the Engineering and Sales & Marketing teams.
Currently, Wooten is the VP of Sales and Marketing at Prince Industries. Mark has been instrumental in growing the sales pipeline by more than 200% in less than a year and winning $6M in new business. Additionally, they have consistently exceeded the incremental sales budget each year by at least 25%.
Mark Wooten earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where they studied from 1980 to 1985.
