Mbbs Thandiwe Chavula Msc

Associate Director - Scientific Affairs at PRIME Education

Thandiwe Chavula, MBBS, MSc, PhD, has a diverse work experience that includes positions in education, research, and clinical practice. Thandiwe is currently working as an Associate Director - Scientific Affairs at PRIME Education. Prior to this, they worked at Baylor College of Medicine, where they were a Pre-doctoral Fellow in Immunology and later a Clinical Translational Research Fellow. Thandiwe'sresearch focused on understanding disease pathogenesis and autoimmunity in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus using knockout mouse models. Before their time at Baylor, they served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where they conducted research on micro-RNAs and their correlation with Lupus. Thandiwe also has experience in medical practice, having worked as a Senior Medical Officer and a Medical Intern at the Ministry of Health in Malawi.

Thandiwe Chavula has pursued an extensive education history in the field of medicine and immunology. Thandiwe first completed their Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry at Chancellor College, University of Malawi from 2004 to 2007. Following this, they went on to earn their Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) degree at the College of Medicine, University of Malawi, from 2008 to 2012.

Thandiwe then proceeded to pursue a Master's degree in Immunology from the University of Nebraska Medical Center from 2016 to 2018. Thandiwe further expanded their knowledge and expertise by obtaining a Clinical Translational Research Certificate of Added Qualification from Baylor College of Medicine between 2020 and 2022.

Continuing their education, Thandiwe is currently enrolled at Baylor College of Medicine and is expected to complete their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Immunology by 2023.

In addition to their academic achievements, Thandiwe has acquired additional certifications to enhance their skills. Thandiwe obtained a Clinical Translational Research of Added Qualification certification from Baylor College of Medicine in August 2022. Furthermore, they completed a course titled "Fundamentals of High Impact Scientific Writing" offered by BioScience Writers, LLC in July 2022.
