Mike Smith has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Mike began their career at IBM in 1986 and served as a Distinguished Engineer for nearly 24 years until 2010. Following their time at IBM, they joined Preventice as a CTO in 2010 and held this position until March 2021. After leaving Preventice, they became the Chef/Co-owner at Leaving Minnesota in June 2019. Currently, Mike Smith is the Chief Technology Officer at Preventice Solutions, which is now part of Boston Scientific.

Mike Smith attended Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management from 2003 to 2004 but did not acquire a degree or specialize in any specific field of study during this period. Mike obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science from Michigan Technological University, where they studied from 1983 to 1986.
