Allen Cheng

Co-Founder at PrepScholar

Allen Cheng has had a successful career in the technology and healthcare industries. Allen began their career in 2006 as a Research Assistant at the Broad Institute where they discovered small molecule inhibitors of histone deacetylase (HDAC) enzymes using high-throughput screening technologies. In 2011, Allen began their PhD studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where they conducted research in synthetic biology. At the same time, they co-founded and co-directed Hacking Medicine at MIT, which aimed to inspire and empower the next generation of healthcare entrepreneurs. In 2013, Allen co-founded PrepScholar, a platform that creates tailored learning programs for learners. Most recently, in 2019, they founded Shortform, which is dedicated to making the world's best ideas more accessible.

Allen Cheng attended Harvard Medical School from 2009 to 2013, where they earned an M.D. Ph.D. in Biophysics. Allen also attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2011 to 2013, where they earned a Ph.D. in Medical Engineering & Medical Physics. Prior to that, they attended Harvard University from 2005 to 2009, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Master of Arts (M.A.) in Chemistry.
