Niels Bergsma has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Niels currently holds the position of Principal Engineer at Prematch, a media platform for German amateur soccer. Prior to that, they worked as a Technical Product Manager at Aaqua, a social experience platform centered around passions. Niels also co-founded and served as the CTO at Travelseekr, a travel-related startup. Additionally, Niels worked at Sentiance as a Senior Data Engineer, where they were responsible for turning IoT sensor data into rich insights about people's behavior. Before that, they held the role of Architect and Lead Engineer at CrowdSense, a company providing a cloud-based platform for monitoring and filtering social media sites. Niels co-founded and served as a consultant at Blue Star, a start-up offering consulting services for cloud-based solutions. Niels started their career as a Software Architect at Reflex Online, specializing in cloud-based solutions for bookings and reservations.

Niels Bergsma attended Saxion University of Applied Sciences from 2001 to 2005, where they obtained an HBO degree in Elektrotechniek. Niels then continued their education at the same university from 2005 to 2008, this time pursuing a degree in Software Engineering.

In addition to their formal education, Niels Bergsma has obtained several certifications, including Design Thinking: Customer Experience, Design Thinking: Prototyping, Design Thinking: Venture Design, Designing Emotion: How To Use Design To Move People, Software Architecture: Domain-Driven Design, Storytelling for Designers, The Five-Step Creative Process, and UX Foundations: Storytelling. These certifications were obtained from LinkedIn in June 2020.
