Nainesh Patel, PhD, is a Sustainability Specialist at Preferred by Nature since January 2022, focusing on legal and sustainable timber sourcing, including compliance with the EU Timber Regulation and EU Deforestation Regulation. Previous roles include an internship at NEPCon where Nainesh contributed to certification and verification schemes and published project outputs. Nainesh completed a PhD at Kingston University, analyzing the efficacy of the European Union Timber Regulation against illegal timber trade in the UK. Nainesh has also held positions as Supervisor at the Kingston University Community Legal Advice Centre, Kingston Award Lead Intern, and intern roles at CDP and Greenpeace UK, with experience in ecological monitoring and biodiversity conservation. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Environmental Law, an MSc in Environment Conservation, and a BSc in Environmental Science.
