David Liao has worked in various roles in the data engineering and analytics field since 2014. In 2021, they began working as a Data Engineer for PreciseTarget and a Senior Data Engineer for Rippleshot. In 2018, they began working as a Big Data Engineer for Mars. From 2017 to 2021, they were a Member of the Upsilon Pi Epsilon: Chicago Chapter. In 2017, they began working as a Senior Data Engineer for Grubhub. In 2016, they worked as a Data Analyst/Operational BI for SwipeSense Inc., a Data Science Intern for GE Transportation, and a Graduate Research Assistant for the Institute for Housing Studies at DePaul University. In 2014, they worked as a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst for JMC Steel Group. In 2015, they were a Graduate Research Assistant for the Data Forensics Project at DePaul University.

David Liao obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Waterloo. David then went on to pursue a Master's Degree in Predictive Analytics from DePaul University, which they completed in 2016.
