Sayan Sarkar has a diverse work experience in the engineering industry. Sayan started their career as an Inplant Trainee (Distillery) at HARINAGAR SUGAR MILLS LTD. in January 2017. From December 2017 to December 2018, they worked as a Graduate Engineer Trainee at ISGEC Heavy Engineering Limited. Sarkar then joined Isgec Heavy Engineering Ltd. in December 2018 as an Engineer, where they worked until February 2022. Currently, they are an Engineer at Praj Industries, starting in March 2022.

Sayan Sarkar began their education at St. Thomas' Boys' School in Kidderpore, Kolkata from 2001 to 2009. Sayan then pursued a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Biotechnology at Haldia Institute of Technology from 2010 to 2014. After completing their undergraduate studies, they attended Jadavpur University to earn a Master of Technology (M.Tech.) degree in Environmental Biotechnology from 2014 to 2016. Following this, Sarkar attended the National Sugar Institute from 2016 to 2017, where they obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Fermentation and Alcohol Technology.
