Samuel (Ike) Etkind is a Research Chemist at PPG since August 2022, bringing extensive experience in organic chemistry and mass spectrometry. Prior to this role, Samuel served as a Mass Spectrometry Instrument Steward at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from August 2017 to May 2022, where maintenance and training on HPLC and HRMS instruments were key responsibilities. As a Graduate Research Assistant at MIT, Samuel designed and synthesized macrocycles for environmental monitoring and contributed significantly to several research projects, mentored undergraduate students, and communicated research findings to diverse audiences. Former roles include Lab Technician at the Microelectronics Research Center and various undergraduate research assistant positions, where Samuel developed chemical synthesis methodologies and engaged in foundational research. Samuel holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from MIT and a BS in Chemistry from The University of Texas at Austin.
