Donell Betts has a diverse work experience, primarily in the field of education. In 2014, Betts started their career as a student teacher at Poudre High School, where they taught high school mathematics and also served as an assistant girls basketball coach. They continued as a long-term substitute teacher at the same school until the end of March the following year. Betts then took on the role of an English teacher at Mahidol Wittayanusorn High School from May 2015 to March 2016. In 2016, Betts became a Middle School Mathematics Teacher at Manitou Springs Middle School, where they worked until August 2018. Following that, Betts joined Poudre School District as a substitute teacher until 2019. Finally, in August 2019, Betts started working as a Mathematics Teacher at Rocky Mountain High School.
Donell Betts began their education at McCook Community College in 2009, where they earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree. They then transferred to Morningside University in 2011 to pursue a degree in Mathematics Teacher Education. However, they did not complete this degree. Finally, in 2012, Donell Betts enrolled at the University of Northern Colorado, where they graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics Teacher Education.
