Ben started their career at Excell Data in 2004, where they worked as a Program Manager, coordinating with Microsoft partners for build and packaging standards. Ben then moved to Excell Data's Digital Media Division, where they served as a Release Manager, controlling the rollout of new codecs and DRM code packages to licensees.

In 2005, Ben joined WaMu as a Release Manager and later became a Technology Manager, leading Enterprise Change Control for the eCommerce group. During this time, they focused on improving development team efficiency and capabilities.
