Desirée De Leon currently serves as a Data Science Educator at RStudio PBC since September 2020, following a role as an NSF GRFP Fellow and Neuroscience PhD Candidate at Emory University from August 2014 to May 2020, where research focused on the genetic influences on social behavior through studying rhesus macaques and quantitative genetic data analysis in R. Prior experience includes a summer internship at RStudio PBC in 2019 and serving as an illustrator for the project "100 Days of Tiny Things" from 2014 to 2017. Furthermore, Desirée worked as a 7th grade science teacher at YES Prep Public Schools from July 2011 to June 2013 and was a Corps Member for Teach For America within the same timeline. Educational achievements include a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Emory University and a Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience from Indiana University Bloomington, along with notable international experiences in New Zealand and Peru during academic endeavors. Desirée graduated as valedictorian from Munster High School in 2007.
