Ian Beil is an accomplished professional in electrical engineering with extensive experience in transmission planning and grid integration. Currently serving as the Manager of Transmission Planning at Portland General Electric since July 2018, Ian leads a team addressing long-term transmission challenges and has previously held roles as Principal Engineer and Staff Engineer within the same organization. In addition to practical industry experience, Ian contributes to academia as an Adjunct Faculty member at Portland State University. Ian's background includes significant positions at Sargent & Lundy, University of Michigan, and Los Alamos National Laboratory, with a focus on demand response and renewable energy solutions. Ian holds a Ph.D. and a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, complemented by a Bachelor's degree from Washington University in St. Louis.
