One of our investors once jokingly introduced us as the “Most Fun Team in our portfolio”. We discuss passionately, we care profoundly, we achieve ambitiously, and we live life enthusiastically. Some people add flair to their work, their life, their relationships, their purpose. We put the accent mark on everything we do.
When we were young there was always this one type of question we hated: “would you rather do A or B?”. Why not both? OR places artificial limits on what you do. Think in ANDs. Does that mean instead of being an Ace we choose to be a jack of all trades, master of none? No, it means we choose to be a master of all trades.
There is a concept in Japan we love. It goes as follows: on this council of ten decision-makers, for any given decision one must disagree with the rest. Unanimous opinions are just foreshadowing for getting blindsided. Always question your priors, take nothing for granted.
Our work is for the people, by the people. If successful, the ramifications will be far-reaching. As we often say, this is likely a top 3 world problem. So it’s important to even in the early days, work with that in mind. Every decision, every action, needs to be working toward the long-term goal of serving all parties.
