Maheen Adamson

Dr. Maheen Mausoof Adamson (VA) completed her Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University of Southern California & a postdoctoral fellowship in psychiatry & behavioral sciences at Stanford School of Medicine. Dr. Adamson has over 15 years of experience directing multi-site & longitudinal studies on Alzheimer’s disease & brain injuries, especially in the veteran population. She currently leads several federally-funded studies (DOD, NIA/NIH, & VA) investigating neuroimaging, genetics, proteomics, & behavioral performance in the rehabilitation of healthy older adults & veterans with post-deployment health concerns. An internationally recognized expert on the cognitive & neural basis of Alzheimer’s disease & TBI, Dr. Adamson has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications on the subject, & has served as former senior editor of Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease & co-editor of Frontiers in Neurology: TBI. She currently serves as Clinical Senior Scientific Research Director for Rehabilitation Service at VAPAHCS, & has served as Director for Research and Ph.D. Fellowships at the War Related Illness & Injury Center (WRIISC), & Director of Research for the Defense & Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC). She also co-chairs the TBI committee at the California Department of Rehabilitation; nominated member of the Sigma Xi society; program committee member of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine; & board member of the Brain Injury Association of California & Society for Brain Mapping & Therapeutics. Dr. Adamson recently completed the Stanford Byer’s Biodesign Faculty Innovation Fellowship & is currently enrolled in the Masters of Science in Healthcare Leadership program at Brown University’s School of Professional Studies.
