Derek Balk currently serves as the Director of High Protein Ingredients and Business Development at POET, a position held since June 2021, where leadership is provided to a dedicated team focused on customer collaboration and product enhancement. Prior to this role, Derek was a Business Development Manager with a focus on sustainable solutions in the grains and fermentation sectors, and held various positions at Flint Hills Resources as the Commercial Protein Manager and at Ag Processing, Inc. in multiple merchandising roles. Derek's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business and Management from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and an Associate of Arts and Sciences in Agricultural Business Technology from Kirkwood Community College.
