Joe Durand has a diverse work experience in the design and marketing industries. Joe began their career as a Designer at Harper & Company from 1987 to 1991. Joe then worked as a Design Production Manager at Inc. Magazine from 1994 to 2002, where they managed a production design team and created print and web materials. Durand served as a Production Director at Body+Soul magazine from January 2002 to December 2002, and later at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia from 2002 to 2009, overseeing production, manufacturing, and design for various publications. In 2011, they became the Creative Director at Gate 3 Design, leading creative concepts and managing a team. Durand also owned Joe Durand Design, Inc. from 2010 onwards, providing design and art direction services for digital and print projects. Lastly, from 2015, they became the Art Director (AI & Sports Marketing) at Plymouth Rock Assurance, where they oversaw the creative team for sports programs, ensuring the conveyance of desired brand messages through various materials and campaigns. Alongside their professional roles, Durand also taught publishing courses at Emerson College as a Senior Affiliated Faculty from 1996 onwards.
Joe Durand attended Massachusetts College of Art and Design from 1986 to 1991, where they obtained a BFA degree in Graphic Design. In 2015, they also completed several certifications in the field of User Experience (UX) from lynda.com, including Foundations of UX: Information Architecture, Foundations of UX: Prototyping, and Foundations of UX: Accessibility.
