Leia Kishlar has a solid work experience in engineering and education. Leia is currently working as a Senior Systems Engineer at Plug Power since March 2021. Previously, they served as a Senior Systems Engineer at Electric Boat from July 2017 to March 2021, where they led various seawater piping system projects for COLUMBIA Class submarines. Additionally, Leia worked as a Student Leader at the University at Buffalo School of Engineering and Applied Sciences from August 2014 to May 2017, providing guidance and coaching to freshman engineers. Leia also gained research experience as a REU Research Assistant at Light Enabled Systems & Applications in the summer of 2016, where they independently developed operating procedures and collaborated with graduate students on experiments. Prior to that, Leia worked as an Athletic Department Tutor at the University at Buffalo in early 2016.
Leia Kishlar completed their high school education at Guilderland High School from 2010 to 2013. Following that, they pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering at the University at Buffalo, graduating from 2013 to 2017. Additionally, Leia achieved certifications in the SAChE Certificate Program: Understanding Hazards and Risk from the AIChE - American Institute of Chemical Engineers in January 2017, and the Six Sigma Green Belt from the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers in October 2016.
