Emmet O'Connell has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Emmet began their career at SuperPower Inc. as a Summer Engineering Intern, where they conducted evaluative testing and established process windows for a prototypic superconductor copper structure lamination test bed. Emmet also designed test setups and wrote SOPs for measuring residual resistivity of superconductors and tested the viability of ultrasonic wash for wire applications.
After their internship, Emmet worked at Union College as an Engineering Lab Technician and later as an Undergraduate Research Assistant. In these roles, they collaborated with a team of mechanical engineering and chemistry students to design and fabricate a test bed for measuring the catalytic ability of aerogels for automotive emissions applications. Emmet also explored the use of aerogel materials as diesel particulate filters in automotive exhaust.
Emmet then joined M & S Cycle as a Mechanic/Apprentice, where they gained hands-on experience and developed mechanical skills.
Following their time at M & S Cycle, Emmet joined Bechtel Power Corporation as a Project Engineer. In this role, they were responsible for the design, procurement, manufacture, and field support of mechanical equipment for refueling operations in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. Emmet conducted technical negotiations and purchase order placements with suppliers, oversaw production reviews and quality surveillance, troubleshooted problems, and prepared technical documentation for government approval. Emmet also performed cost estimating and budgetary planning for equipment efforts and provided manufacturability feedback for design agencies.
Currently, Emmet is working at Plug Power, where they started as a Field Service Engineer before being promoted to Senior Product Service Engineer and then to Technical Lead, Senior Product Service Engineer. Emmet'sresponsibilities in these roles include providing technical support, troubleshooting, and overseeing product service operations.
Overall, Emmet O'Connell has a strong background in engineering, with experiences in technical testing, design, manufacturing, and field support. Emmet has demonstrated technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
Emmet O'Connell has a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University Graduate School. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Union College. Emmet'seducation also includes a period at Czech Technical University in Prague, although specific details about degree and field of study are unavailable. Additionally, Emmet has obtained a certification in "Decision-Making in High-Stress Situations" from LinkedIn in June 2020.
