Stefan Wan is an experienced investor currently focusing on early-stage startups at Plug and Play Tech Center since September 2023, with notable investments in BioDrive, Gigablue, and Ucaneo. Prior to this, Stefan served as a Graduate Researcher in the Shapiro Lab at Caltech, where engineering calcium-sensing proteins aimed at ultrasonic brain imaging was a key project. Previous research positions include roles at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, where novel decoding tRNAs were identified, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where tools for nanobionic plant engineering were developed. Additionally, as a Chemical Engineering Intern at PolyJoule, Inc., Stefan contributed to the prototype development for energy storage solutions, and conducted research on sodium-air batteries and phosphorus adsorbents during earlier educational experiences. Stefan obtained a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from MIT, with a minor in Biology, and pursued a PhD in Bioengineering at Caltech before taking an indefinite leave of absence.
