Tomoya Shimokakimoto has had a varied career, beginning in 2013 as a Visiting Researcher at DTU Elektro, Center for Playware. In 2014, they were awarded a Research Fellowship for Young Scientists from JSPS. From 2015 to 2018, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher and Research Fellow at the University of Tsukuba, where they were a JST START project researcher. In 2018, they became a Co-Founder of PLIMES Inc.
Tomoya Shimokakimoto completed a Master of Medical Science in Assistive/Augmentative Technology and Rehabilitation Engineering from the University of Tsukuba in 2015. Tomoya then went on to receive a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the same university in 2015. Prior to that, they had obtained a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Assistive/Augmentative Technology and Rehabilitation Engineering from the University of Tsukuba in 2012.
