Liza Mitchell is an experienced ecologist and natural resource planner currently employed at Pitkin County since May 2019. Previously, Liza held positions such as Education Program Manager and Watershed Education & Outreach Coordinator at Roaring Fork Conservancy from May 2015 to April 2019. Liza's background includes a role as Lead Technician at the National Science Foundation, where responsibilities involved managing hydrologic data collection and quality assurance. Liza also served as a National Science Foundation Fellow, developing inquiry-based curriculum and science communication skills. Academic experiences include a Research Assistant role at the University of Idaho, where Liza conducted stream ecology research, and a variety of teaching and mentoring positions. Liza's education encompasses a Master's degree in Water Resources from the University of Idaho and a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from Colorado College.
