Cristina Sampaio, M.D., Ph.D., is chief medical officer at the CHDI Foundation. In her role, she leads and develops CHDI’s clinical programs by developing external collaborations as well as growing internal capabilities. Before joining CHDI, she served in multiple senior roles at the University of Lisbon, including as a professor of clinical pharmacology and therapeutics, senior member of the Movement Disorders Clinic and principal investigator at the Institute of Molecular Medicine. She was also a longtime member of the Committee of Proprietary Medicinal Products and the Scientific Advice Working Party at the European Medicines Agency. Her main research interests are the methodology and design of clinical studies in neurodegenerative disorders and pharmacoepidemiology. She received her medical degree as well as her doctorate degree in clinical pharmacology from the University of Lisbon.
