Ret. P/Director General Roberto Tupas Lastimoso who was appointed on November 28, 2016, as Chairman of the Board of the Philippine National Railways is a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy (BSPMA) and Ph.D. graduate of Philippine College of Criminology. Before becoming the Chairman of the PNR Board, he has served in various capacities in the government among others as: General Manager of MRT 3 (January 2004-June 2009), Assistant Secretary- Rail Sector of Department of Transportation and Communication (September 2003- June 2009), Assistant Secretary, and Chief of Land Transportation Office (January 2002- September 2003). He was also the Director-General/Chief of the Philippine National Police (June 1998-January 2000) and before becoming the highest PNP Officials, he has served in various military capacities in most of the regions in the Philippines, he has numerous military awards, medals and distinctions. He was also the Vice-Chairman of GRP-Panel-Peace Talks with MNLF, Senior Police Assistant of DILG, Director of PNOC, Consultant of the Philippine Ports Authority, Director of Rural Bank of Butuan City, Director of AMA Computer College in Butuan City
