Amina Abubakar is the owner and CEO of Avant Pharmacy & Wellness Center and Network Luminary for CPESN USA and CPESN NC. She is a clinical pharmacist, Certified HIV Specialty Pharmacist, a preceptor to UNC Chapel Hill residents and students from several schools of pharmacy. Abubakar has fostered an environment that showcases the significance and impact of patient care of community pharmacists by collaborating with medical providers and expanding pharmacist led clinical services in her community. Currently, she shares her passion for pharmacy advancements with pharmacists, patients and policy makers all over the country through Pharmacogenomics. She was invited to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and to the FDA to discuss the role of pharmacists in pharmacogenomics.
In her many professional positions, Amina Abubakar is redefining the future of pharmacy, one service at a time. As the owner of Avant Pharmacy and Wellness Center, Amina provides patients in her native Charlotte, NC with enhanced clinical services and better health outcomes. Outside of her business, she extends her passion for clinical pharmacy into her role as President of the Avant Institute —which offers education, resources, and support for other pharmacy professionals looking to move beyond dispensing.
She also serves as the Clinical Director of Troy Medicare, a preceptor for the UNC Chapel Hill School of Pharmacy, and a luminary for CPESN. Amina’s ambition is marked by her many awards and accolades, but she remains focused on the same goal: providing patients with personalized clinical care.
