John Ekström began their work experience in 1997 at Perstorp Specialty Chemicals as a Product Manager until 2001. From 2001, they transitioned to Perstorp Holding AB as a Sales Director, later becoming Director of Supply Chain & IT, and eventually Vice President of Strategic Development in 2010.

John Ekström completed their high school education at Castro Valley High School in 1980. John then pursued a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and Organic Chemistry at KTH, Royal Institute of Technology, graduating in 1987. Later, in 2004, they obtained an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) from INSEAD.
