Jesce Walz has a diverse work experience in the field of architecture and research. They started their career at Squall Studio Design/Build, where they worked as the Director, focusing on architectural and graphic design. Their responsibilities included historic building renovation, brand identity development, and website design, among others. After that, Jesce worked as a Graduate Researcher at the Integrated Design Lab, University of Washington, where they conducted daylight analyses, produced publications, and organized workshops. They also worked as a Graduate Researcher at the Carbon Leadership Forum, studying life cycle assessment and website development. Jesce then joined the University of Washington as a Valle Researcher, conducting research on Nordic Sauna & Cold Bathing. Their work was shared through presentations and a workshop. Currently, Jesce is working at Perkins&Will as a Global Carbon + Circularity Research Lead, Associate, where they focus on sustainability and participate in various design projects. They are also a Lecturer at the University of Washington.
Jesce Walz has a diverse educational background with a focus on sustainability and the built environment. They obtained an Executive Education for Sustainability Leadership from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in 2023, specializing in Agroecology and Sustainable Agriculture. In 2022, Jesce earned a Whole-Building Life Cycle Assessment Professional Credential from the British Columbia Institute of Technology, with a field of study in Environmental Studies. Prior to that, they pursued a Master of Architecture (MArch) and a Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) from the University of Washington College of Built Environments. Jesce started their education journey at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, where they obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Design with a focus on Physical/Digital Multimedia Environments in 2004. Additionally, Jesce has obtained various certifications related to sustainability, including LEED Green Associate, Living Futures Accredited, and a Regenerative Design Certificate, among others.
