Suguru Watanabe

Suguru Watanabe is the Director of Commercial Aviation Systems Quality for MHI (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.). He is representing MHI on IAQG (International Aerospace Quality Group) and APAQG (Asia Pacific Aerospace Quality Group) as the voting member.

Mr. Watanabe joined MHI Nagoya Aerospace Systems Works in 1990 after he obtained a bachelor’s degree from Tokyo Metropolitan Instituto of Technologies in Japan. He started his career as a Quality engineer for the Japanese Experiment Module nicknamed “KIBO” of the International Space Station, mainly in its Safety and Production Assurance.

He joined the composite wings development team as a quality engineering leader in 2003. In 2008, he managed the manufacturing engineering and manufacturing for composite wings. In 2010, he returned to the quality department and managed the quality of wing and fuselage structure assembly, parts manufacturing, and supply chain for various commercial aircrafts until his current post.
