Dr.-Ing. Gunther Kegel has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Dr.-Ing. Gunther began their career in 1990 at Pepperl+Fuchs Group, where they held various roles such as Head of Advanced Development and Head of Factory Automation Division. In 1997, they became the Managing Director and Spokesman of the Management Board at Pepperl+Fuchs, Mannheim. In 2001, they were appointed as Chairman of the Management Board of Pepperl+Fuchs GmbH, and later as the CEO of Pepperl+Fuchs SE.

Dr.-Ing. Gunther Kegel also has experience outside of Pepperl+Fuchs Group. Dr.-Ing. Gunther served as the President of ZVEI e.V. and was a member of the Full Board of Management. Dr.-Ing. Gunther also held positions such as Vice President and Chairman of the Automation Association. Additionally, they were involved with the VDE Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies, where they served as the President and later as the Vice President.

In 2020, Dr.-Ing. Gunther Kegel joined Deutsche Messe AG as a Member of the Board of Management and also became the Chairman of the Exhibitor Advisory Committee of Hannover Messe. Dr.-Ing. Gunther later became the Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Roto Frank Holding AG in 2021. Dr.-Ing. Gunther also serves as the Chairman of the Advisory Board at Hilger u. Kern GmbH and as the Vice President and Member of the Board of the Support Association at The Federation of German Industries (BDI). Dr.-Ing. Gunther is also a member of the Advisory Board and co-publisher at atp magazin - Automatisierung und digitale Transformation.

Dr.-Ing. Gunther Kegel started their professional career as a research assistant with an academic degree at the Technical University of Darmstadt from 1985 to 1989.

Dr.-Ing. Gunther Kegel earned a Diplom-Ingenieur degree in Elektrotechnik from Technische Universität Darmstadt, where they studied from 1980 to 1985.
