Aaron Mackey serves as the Free Speech and Transparency Litigation Director at the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) since September 2015, where also holds the position of Senior Staff Attorney and previously was the Frank Stanton Legal Fellow. Prior to joining EFF, Aaron worked at the Institute for Public Representation as a Staff Attorney and Clinical Teaching Fellow, supervising law students on media and telecommunications issues. As a Jack Nelson Legal Fellow at The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, focused on advocating for journalists' First Amendment and freedom of information rights. Early career experiences include legal internships at The Reporters Committee and the First Amendment Project, along with reporting for the Arizona Daily Star. Aaron holds a Master of Laws in Advocacy from Georgetown University Law Center, a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and English from the University of Arizona.
