Jack Smart is an experienced writer and producer specializing in film and entertainment journalism. Currently serving as a Movies Staff Writer at PEOPLE Magazine since May 2023, Smart has notable experience moderating for the SAG-AFTRA Foundation since 2017. Previously, Smart held the position of Senior Writer - Film at The A.V. Club and produced the acclaimed "In the Envelope" podcast for Backstage, where over 200 interviews with industry professionals were conducted. Additional roles include Awards Editor at Backstage, where strategic editorial content was developed, and freelance writing for various theater publications. Smart also gained early experience in marketing for Off-Broadway productions and camp counseling, paving the way for a multifaceted career in arts and media following a BA in English and Drama from Vassar College.
