Matthew Goldman

Senior Evaluation Consultant at Peg's Foundation

Matthew L. Goldman, MD, MS, is an Evaluation Consultant for Peg’s Foundation. He is the Associate Medical Director for Comprehensive Crisis Services in the San Francisco Department of Public Health, and he is volunteer clinical faculty in the UCSF Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He is also a mental health services researcher and has grant funding from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to study best practices in mobile crisis team settings. Dr. Goldman was elected to the board of the American Association of Community Psychiatry, he is a member of the American Psychiatric Association’s Council on Advocacy and Government Relations, and he sits on the National Council for Behavioral Health’s Medical Director’s Institute.

He is Co-Editor of the Editor’s Choice Collections for the journal Psychiatric Services and co-leads the Psychiatric Services Policy Advisory Group. From 2018-2019 he was a Policy Fellow in the Office of the Chief Medical Officer at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration through the Health and Aging Policy Fellowship and the Congressional Fellowship Program, and from 2019-2020 he completed the UCSF Public Psychiatry Fellowship. He graduated from Pomona College and the UC Berkeley – UCSF Joint Medical Program, and he completed his residency and chief residency in psychiatry at Columbia University and the New York State Psychiatric Institute.
