Andrew Stevens has accumulated significant work experience in the development field. Andrew began their career as a Co-op Software Developer at Pollard Banknote and IBM Canada Ltd. in 2000. In the following year, they served as a Software Engineer Intern at Microsoft.
In 2002, Stevens joined EISI as a Software Developer and later became a Team Lead, overseeing large-scale customization and framework conversion projects. Andrew worked with teams of up to 12 developers and utilized both waterfall and agile methodologies. Stevens also managed a team of six employees and assisted them in their career progression.
Stevens then joined Zywave in 2011 as a Lead Software Architect, responsible for designing and implementing new features in the financial planning product. Andrew also managed a team of four developers, oversaw co-op recruitment and hiring, and managed the training curriculum for the Development department.
In 2012, Stevens moved to Advicent Solutions as a Product Director for NaviPlan. Their role involved setting the product's direction through market research and engaging with clients. Andrew also developed and communicated the product roadmap to internal stakeholders and clients.
Most recently, Stevens worked at Payworks Payroll Services Canada, starting as a Director of Development in 2014. Andrew focused on maintaining, updating, and enhancing the company's software and systems. Stevens also implemented Agile development processes, defined coding quality standards, and fostered continuous learning for the development team. In 2018, they were promoted to Vice President of Development, where they led a team consisting of Developers, Business Analysts, and Quality Assurance Analysts. Their main responsibilities included enhancing team efficiency, improving team collaboration, and ensuring overall product quality.
Throughout their career, Stevens has demonstrated expertise in leading development teams, driving product direction, and delivering successful projects.
Andrew Stevens attended St. Paul's High School from 1993 to 1997, where they earned their High School Diploma. Andrew then went on to the University of Manitoba from 1997 to 2001, majoring in Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons.) and minoring in Management. Later, from 2005 to 2008, they attended The American College of Financial Services to fulfill the education requirements for obtaining a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation in Financial Planning.
