Kistein Monkhouse, MPA has a diverse work experience that spans across various industries and roles. In 2010, they began their career as a Homecare Coordinator/Case Manager, where they oversaw a staff of five and provided basic patient care. After that, they worked as an Office Assistant at Queens College, performing administrative tasks and coordinating health fairs. In 2014, they worked as a Nursing Assistant at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, prioritizing patient safety and rights. This was followed by a role as a Service Coordinator at Concern for Independent Living, where they managed a caseload of patients with mental and substance abuse issues.

In 2017, Kistein founded and became the CEO of Patient Orator, a digital health startup that aims to improve communication between chronically ill patients and healthcare professionals. They led the creation and development of the company from ideation to its current MVP. They also participated in the Founder Institute startup accelerator program in 2019.

In 2019, Kistein also became an Advisor at Community Service Society of New York. In 2020, they joined the Community Advisory Board at the University of Washington Cambia Palliative Care Center of Excellence.

In 2021, Kistein became a VV GROW Fellow at the Vital Voices Global Partnership, a leading accelerator program for women business owners making a social impact. They also participated as a WC Bioscience Accelerator Participant at WCBA: Westchester County Biosciences Accelerator (The Catalyst) for six months.

Throughout their career, Kistein has focused on providing individualized, person-centered care and advocating for healthcare issues.

Kistein Monkhouse has a diverse educational background. From 2015 to 2017, they attended LIU Brooklyn, where they earned a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree with a focus on Health/Health Care Administration/Management. Prior to that, from 2012 to 2014, they studied Women & Gender Studies at Queens College, specializing in Sociology. Kistein Monkhouse completed their high school education at William Cullen Bryant High School from 2005 to 2008, earning a High School Diploma.
