Keith Frome

Dr. Frome joined Park in the role of Acting President in July 2021, and was named permanent President in September 2022. He has served as a head of school, teacher and thought-leader in education for more than three decades. He is a graduate of Harvard Divinity School and Columbia University’s Teachers College. In 1993, after teaching writing at Harvard College, he co-founded College Summit, one of the first national college access organizations with the mission of increasing higher education enrollment rates of low-income and first-generation students. In 2009, President Obama shared his Nobel Peace Prize with College Summit. In 2015, Dr. Frome restructured the organization, launching its student-driven college success initiative, PeerForward, which now annually reaches 90,000 students in low-income high schools and colleges throughout the country. In 2019, PeerForward was awarded the Lumina Prize for the top innovation in higher education.

In 2010, he led the design and implementation of the expansion of Buffalo’s King Center Charter School to create a college-going culture for early childhood and middle school students on Buffalo’s east side. While at the King Center Charter School, he led the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation-funded College Knowledge Challenge resulting in the national launch of 19 free post-secondary navigation apps designed by and for first-generation students. The suite of apps was featured at the White House’s 2014 Datapalooza as one of the top educational innovations of the year.

Dr. Frome has published several books including co-editing The Columbia Book of Civil War Poetry which the Wall Street Journal named one of the best five war poetry books of all time and What Not to Expect: A Meditation on the Spirituality of Parenting which won the 2006 Catholic Press Association award for the best book on family life. His other books include Hitch Your Wagon to a Star and Other Quotations from Ralph Waldo Emerson (Columbia University Press) and How’s My Kid Doing? Practical Answers to Questions Every Parent Asks About Their Kid’s Education (Crossroad Publishing).

As a leader, Dr. Frome served as the Assistant Headmaster of the Browning School; the Headmaster of the Elmwood Franklin School; the Executive Director of the King Center Charter School; and the CEO of PeerForward. He has taught at Harvard College, Canisius College, and Houghton College.
