Brian Woodward

Brian is a seasoned industry professional with a specialized knowledge of the propane and heating oil sectors of the downstream petroleum industry. With a strong accounting background, including a Bachelors of Business Administration degree and CPA, CMA, and CA designations, Brian has held senior leadership positions in some of the country’s largest privately held petroleum companies.

Brian started his career in public accounting with Ernst and Young and joined the Irving family of companies in 1992. During his 16-year tenure with Irving, Brian held numerous positions, including Chief Financial Officer and Director of Knowledge and Information. Brian has extensive M&A and corporate integration experience, including a $200 million Ireland-based acquisition opportunity and a US regional acquisition opportunity valued in excess of $1 billion.

With an entrepreneurial, customer-focused approach, Brian has been the President of Management Matters since 2008. Management Matters is focused on facilitating generational change in successful family businesses. As President of Management Matters, Brian has assisted families in a variety of industries, including serving as CFO for New Hampshire-based Rymes Heating Oils from 2008 until its sale for $160 million dollars to Superior Plus Propane in 2020. Brian recently joined Paraco as their interim CFO.

Born in Canada, Brian moved with his wife and three children to the United States in 1998, and the family became US citizens in 2008. Brian is an avid runner, cyclist, and triathlete. The Woodward family has cycled coast to coast across the United States as well as the US pacific coast and in Europe. He competed in the International Triathlon World Championships in Beijing, China, in 2011 and has completed numerous full and half marathons, with the most recent being the New York City half marathon in 2022.
