Alex Sockell, PhD, currently serves as Segment Lead for Cancer Genomics at PacBio, leading the development and implementation of segment marketing strategies and strategic collaborations. Prior to this role, Alex was a PhD candidate at Stanford University School of Medicine, where novel contributions included developing high-throughput platforms for cancer organoid phenotyping and creating systems linking genotype to phenotype. Experience also includes serving as Lab Manager at Bustamante Lab, overseeing project management and wet lab experimentation, and as a Project Manager on a cacao sequencing project in collaboration with Mars, Inc. Additionally, Alex worked as a consultant at Collective Acumen, addressing strategic needs for pharma and biotech clients, and gained early research experience at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, focusing on genomic studies related to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and cancer. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Genetics from Stanford University and a Bachelor’s degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from Vanderbilt University.
