Will Merritt has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Will is currently employed at Pachama as a Geospatial Forest Carbon Scientist since September 2022. Prior to this, Will worked at WWF-Canada, where they held two positions. From October 2020 to November 2022, they served as a GIS & Spatial Analysis Specialist, and from May 2017 to October 2020, they were an Associate Specialist, GIS.

Before joining WWF-Canada, Will worked as a Type-I Helitack Wildland Firefighter at the Government of Alberta from April 2016 to September 2018. Additionally, they gained experience as a Silvicultural & Operational Forestry Technician at Foothills Forest Products Inc. from May 2014 to October 2015. Will also worked as a GIS Research Assistant at the University of Toronto from November 2013 to May 2014.

Earlier in their career, Will interned as a GIS Intern at WWF-Canada from September 2013 to April 2014 and served as an Assistant Forestry Technician at ONresources | RichessesON from June 2013 to September 2013. Will began their professional journey as a Facility Program Supervisor at the City of London, Canada, where they worked from September 2008 to September 2012.

Will Merritt has a diverse education history. Will obtained an Advanced Certificate in Data Science from the University of Waterloo from 2019 to 2021. Prior to that, they completed a Post-graduate Certificate in GIS Applications at Fleming College from 2016 to 2017. Additionally, they hold an Honours Bachelor of Science (H.B.Sc.) degree in GIS & Forest Conservation Science from the University of Toronto, although specific dates of enrollment are unknown.

In addition to their formal education, Will Merritt has acquired several certifications. Will is Automated External Defibrillator Certified by the Lifesaving Society, a Pleasure Craft Operators License holder from the Canadian Red Cross since 2005, and holds a Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification earned in April 2013, also from the Lifesaving Society. Furthermore, they possess a Restricted Radio Operators Certificate, obtained from the Innovation, Science and Economic Development / Innovation, Sciences et Développement économique institution (specific dates of acquisition are unknown).
