Dan Sames has extensive experience in public service and academia, currently serving as the Lead Member for Planning and Councillor at Cherwell District Council since May 2004. Dan holds dual roles at Oxford Brookes University as a Senior Lecturer and Programme Portfolio Manager, overseeing a team supporting the Faculty and managing admissions for the School of the Built Environment. Dan's political engagement includes membership in The Conservative Party since 1988, having been a candidate for the European Parliament in 2014 and serving as a County Councillor for Oxfordshire from 2017 to 2021, along with a previous term as a Councillor at Bicester Town Council from 1999 to 2023. In addition, Dan was a Director and Vice Chairman of Graven Hill Development Company, steering the UK's largest self-build scheme. Dan holds a Master’s Degree in Spatial Planning and a BA(hons) in History and Politics from Oxford Brookes University.
