Frédéric Wilhelm has a diverse work experience in the automotive industry. Frédéric began their career as a Research Engineer at JTEKT North America Corporation in 2014, where they focused on automatic control, vehicle dynamics, and automated driving. During this time, they developed control-command algorithms to improve Electric Power Steering behavior and to recognize the presence of drivers using low-cost EPS sensors.

In 2016, Frédéric joined Valeo as a System Engineer and was involved in the development of the first automated vehicle to drive around the Paris ring road. Frédéric monitored the development and integration of the embedded software stack, as well as the development and tuning of lateral and longitudinal control laws. Frédéric later took on the role of R&I Technical Leader, responsible for leading research and development efforts.

At Valeo, Frédéric also served as an Advanced Development Project Manager, where they led the development of the new generation Smart Front Camera for Advanced Driving Assistance Systems. Additionally, they held the position of R&I Project Manager, overseeing the innovation project management for highway automated driving systems. Frédéric successfully led the transversal development of software modules and implemented various improvements to the product, such as multi-sensor fusion, localization on high definition maps, and full automated lane change capabilities.

Most recently, Frédéric joined Outsight in 2022 as a Product Line Manager, where they are responsible for managing the product line for the company.

Frédéric Wilhelm completed their education in two stages. From 2008 to 2013, they pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering at École Polytechnique, culminating in a Diplôme de l'École polytechnique. Following that, between 2011 and 2013, they attained a Master's degree in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence from EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne). Additionally, in July 2020, they obtained a certification in Deep Learning from deeplearning.ai.
