Lauren Rakes is a senior medical illustrator at Osso VR. Lauren has also worked as a co-challenge master for regional competition at Destination Imagination, an extern at Wildlife Center of Virginia, and an office assistant at Allergy Partners of Charlottesville.

Lauren has always been interested in the medical field and helping others. Lauren decided to become a medical illustrator so that they could use their skills to help people learn about the human body and how it works.

At Osso VR, Lauren creates illustrations and animations that are used in virtual reality medical training simulations. Lauren enjoys using their creativity to develop new ways of teaching complex concepts to medical professionals.

In their free time, Lauren enjoys spending time with their family and friends, hiking, and exploring new places.

Lauren Rakes received their Master's Degree in Medical and Biological Illustration from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Lauren also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Scientific and Preparatory Medical Illustration from Virginia Commonwealth University. In addition, Lauren is a Certified Medical Illustrator (CMI) through the Board of Certification of Medical Illustrators.

They are on a team with Emi Frohn - Associate Medical Illustrator, Mala Goodman - Medical Illustration Onboarding Manager, and Stephen Robinson - Medical Illustrator. Lauren Rakes reports to Daniel Hermansen, Director of Medical Illustration.
