Hendrik (Jaco) van der Merwe serves as the Tax Manager for Africa at Orica since October 2022. Prior to this role, van der Merwe held the position of Tax Manager for South and East Africa at Aggreko from May 2019 to September 2022. Earlier experience includes serving as Financial and Treasury Manager at DAWN Ltd from August 2017 to May 2019 and as Group Financial Manager at Lothlorien (Pty) Ltd from May 2015 to February 2017. Academically, van der Merwe has a PG Diploma in Big Data Science from The University of Texas at Austin (2021-2022), an MBA from GIBS Business School (2019-2021), a BCompt Honours in Accounting and Finance from the University of South Africa (2010), a BCom in Economics from the University of the Free State (2006-2009), and a BCom in Accounting from the same institution (2003-2007).
