Thomas Nield has a diverse work experience in various industries. In 2011, they began their career as a Business Consultant in Operations Research at Southwest Airlines, where they worked until December 2019. In 2015, Thomas became an Author and Instructor at O'Reilly Media, and they continue to hold this role. In 2019, they founded Nield Consulting Group, LLC, where they assist clients in establishing safety practices for Artificial Intelligence System Safety and machine learning. Since 2020, Thomas has also been an Instructor at the University of Southern California's Aviation Safety & Security Program, teaching courses on Artificial Intelligence System Safety.
