Delon Lafituanai is an experienced professional in youth justice and care, currently serving as Quality Assurance Manager at Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children since November 2019, where responsibilities include overseeing training and quality assurance to ensure compliance with legislative requirements. Additionally, Delon held the role of Team Leader Operations for a Secure Unit, managing young people in a custodial environment under the S368 OT Act, and served as Manager Residence Operations for a 40-bed youth justice facility in Christchurch, overseeing a staff of approximately 130 in providing safety, welfare, security, and care to youth awaiting sentencing or serving custodial sentences. Delon’s career in the field began in September 1999 with the Child Youth and Family service, where Delon is part of the Senior Residential Care Team during night shifts.
