Stephen Martin

Software Validation Engineer at Optos

Stephen Martin has an extensive work experience in various roles. Stephen started their career at Marconi Instruments in 1988 as a Production Operator, where they assembled panels and soldered components onto boards. Stephen then moved on to Motorola Bathgate as a Production Operator from 1991 to 1993.

Stephen then joined Solectron as a Production Operator/Verifier, where they verified parts for production, placed correct parts in feeders, and ensured all parts were on the approved manufacturers list. Stephen also worked as a Surface Mount Technology Operator, where they prepared PCBs, applied solder paste, and monitored the progress of PCBs at the Chip Placed.

In 2008, Stephen worked at Cemtron as a Surface Mount Technology Operator, where they took PCBs from stock, ensured their condition, and monitored their progress through the surface mount machine.

Stephen joined Infoteam in 2010 as a Surface Mount Technology Operator, where they set up machines, produced high-quality PCBs, and checked component placement.

In 2011, Stephen started working at Optos, initially as an Assembly Technician. Here, they championed LEAN manufacturing, created software to improve shop floor module traceability, and improved information flow of module build issues.

At Optos, Stephen later transitioned into the role of a Software Validation Engineer. Stephen formulated validation plans and protocols within a technical R&D environment, and reported relevant metrics.

Overall, Stephen Martin has gained significant experience and expertise in surface mount technology, production operations, and software validation throughout their career.

Stephen Martin completed their education in a progressive manner, beginning in 1987 and ending in 2010. Stephen initially attended Lauder College Dunfermline from 1987 to 1988, where they pursued a degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering and completed an ONC qualification. Following this, from 2007 to 2008, Stephen attended Adam Smith College, where they obtained an HNC degree in Software Development. Continuing their education, from 2008 to 2009, they furthered their studies at Adam Smith College and completed an HND degree in Software Development. Finally, Stephen attended Abertay University from 2009 to 2010, obtaining a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computing.
