Nathan Jarvis

Firmware Engineer at Optimal Design

Nathan Jarvis has a diverse work experience in the field of engineering. Nathan worked as a Firmware Engineer at Optimal Design starting in 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Aclara as a Firmware Engineer from 2019 to 2022, where they developed firmware for Advanced Metering Infrastructure technologies in electric, gas, and water meters. Nathan also created an OS abstraction layer for Meter Applications and implemented a USB Library for board-to-board communication. Before Aclara, Nathan worked as a Linux and C/C++ Development Intern at Exegy in 2018, where they developed a Linux driver for high-speed stock trading. Nathan also worked at Washington University in St. Louis, where they were part of the Formula SAE team, working on suspension systems and later on the electrical team. Nathan also served as a Teaching Assistant and worked on Android Course Development. In 2017, Nathan interned at Tesla as a Firmware Engineer, where they created a regression testing platform for Model 3 oil pump firmware releases and wrote specifications for the firmware. Prior to their engineering career, they gained experience at Clayton High School as a FIRST Robotics Team Member and a member of the Speech and Debate Team. Nathan also worked at GLB Motorworks as a Shop Cleaner and Apprentice, where they received informal training in car maintenance.

Nathan Jarvis earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Computer Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, completing their studies from 2015 to 2019.
